Color Story

I just finished a dining room for a client that loves color. She wanted something fresh and fun so we went in a totally different direction than what she had...

BEFORE: It was a dated dark red, but we didn't see why we couldn't pull out some pink and reuse her dining chairs.  We painted the French chairs in a high gloss white and traded the table for a glass top so we could show off the new damask dhurrie rug. The glass top table makes the room seem larger.

The chair seats were recovered in bright sorbet shades....
and the gold leaf Worlds Away table adds a modern element.
Remember this pink hued piece from the Parade of Homes house? It serves as the perfect buffet.
A centerpiece in a mother of pearl bowl is a cherry focal point.
It's always in the details...and this room is chocked full of them.
The client's existing art collection was a jumping off point for the room. It's lively and fun.

Notice the new drapes? We ditched some valences for orange and pink silk drapes. They add a formal touch but since the color is so punchy, it's not too stuffy.
Her living room got some fun new touches. She had the sofa and coffee table, so we accessorized with pillows, drapes and accessories. We added the green leopard chair from the Parade House and I love the touch of whimsy in this "formal space".
The tray is made from a piece of art from her daughter's collection.
The desk was brought down for a small work space for my client and now this room is not only cozy but functional. Before, it was too stuffy and not the type of room you would want to hang out in.
We relocated a piece from the dining room as a side table and it acts as additional storage. This great house just needed some updates... so check out the simple fix in the master.
The bedding and all accessories were in place when I came along. The walls were drab but we loved the neutral palate.
By adding this Thibaut grasscloth as an accent behind the bed, it added interest and texture -- and a little glam. Of course it's metallic.

After simple fixes and a new dining room, this house has lots of personality, just like it's owners!
